As long as you don't question her or stand up for yourself she is nice, but the minute you want to have some say in your own treatment she becomes nasty. I had seen Sheila for several years, and always felt frustrated after each visit. She didn't really listen to me about my problems. I would be referred to specialists and when my insurance denied the visit I was scolded for refusing treatment. Also she neglected to tell me when my insurance started working with new providers and instead of sending out new referrals, wrote in my chart how I am noncompliant and refuses to cooperate with medical direction. Also due to a heart problem she told me how I was dying and didn't have many years left unless I changed my lifestyle, yet the help I needed was not covered by my insurance so she would tell me to go home and try to get healthier, no other help was offered. She at one point put me on a pain contract for chronic pain due to an injury, but stopped the medication because she thought it was causing my headaches, even though both myself and other family members had repeatedly told her I had suffered from migraines for at least 15 years before pain pills were ever prescribed, but she refused to acknowledge this and kept to her own thinking. At one point a family member came in with me to be a witness of sorts to the extreme pain I am constantly in and to tell Sheila about my conditions as someone who sees me on a regular basis. You could see Sheila's defenses come up immediately and kept interrupting and placing blame on me. Once I got all my records I read her notes on how my family member attacked her, yelled at her and was irate and out of control. Seeing as how we all walked out of the room laughing and in a good mood I don't understand how she could then write something so horrible. All I needed was for her to listen to me and take me seriously. But because I am considered quite young to have the problems I do, she tended to only focus on my age and therefore expected me to be as active as my age dictates and when that was an impossibility she would label me as a difficult patient and even went so far as to call the office a caseworker of mine and tell him how I attacked her and that there is nothing wrong with me and that I'm in perfect health. So after so many lies and not enough support I found another provider.
