Dr. Mahrous also served as Chief resident in his senior year and won the prestigious Distinguished House Staff Award selectively chosen amongst the residents of New York Presbyterian Hospital for his clinical and surgical excellence.?Dr. Mahrous is a graduate of Weill Cornell Medicine in Qatar where he received his Medical Degree with Honors in Academic Distinction where graduated top of his class and also received the United States Medical Licensure Examination Tutor award for his teaching and mentoring of junior medical students.?Dr. Mahrous' clinical and surgical interests include diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal detachments, retinal tears and holes, epiretinal membranes, macular holes, retinal vein occlusions and dislocated lenses amongst others. He is actively involved in clinical research and has contributed to numerous surgical, clinical and basic science peer-reviewed publications. He has also written journal review articles and helped author on several retina textbook chapters. He has also presented at local, national, and international ophthalmology conferences.
