Who is Dr. Mudgil, Dermatologist in New York, NY?

Adarsh Vijay Mudgil, MD, specializes in dermatology at Mudgil Dermatology in New York City (Greenwich Village) and Long Island, New York. Dr. Mudgil practices cosmetic, medical, and surgical dermatology and has special expertise in dermatopathology.

He founded the practice in 2008. He is one of only several physicians in New York City certified by the American Board of Dermatology in both dermatology and dermatopathology. He sees patients of all ages.

Dr. Mudgil diagnoses and treats the complete range of dermatologic issues — from skin cancer, acne, and eczema to pigment disorders, rosacea, and dermatitis.

He performs cosmetic dermatology and facial rejuvenation treatments — including laser procedures, BOTOX®, filler injections, and CoolSculpting® — as well as minor surgical procedures to treat conditions such as skin cancer, cysts, and lipomas.

Regardless of their reason for seeing Dr. Mudgil, patients can expect a warm environment and clinicians with years of expertise who are guided by the practice’s four core values: compassion, attention to detail, integrity, and accountability.

“We deliver very personalized and accessible care,” he says. “I try to eliminate any artificial barriers to care; for example, I don’t wear a coat, and patients can always email me directly.”

The other side of Mudgil Dermatology focuses on dermatopathology, the subspecialty that unites dermatology and pathology. Dermatopathologists diagnose skin, hair, and nail conditions by microscopically viewing and analyzing tiny samples. The practice’s Long Island location is home to a full-service dermatopathology laboratory.

“Ours is a Tri-State reference laboratory, which means that I analyze and interpret samples that other dermatologists send, as well as those from my own patients,” Dr. Mudgil says. “We primarily evaluate samples from patients with suspected skin cancer.”

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Society of Dermatopathology.

Dr. Mudgil also serves as an assistant clinical professor of dermatology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, where he teaches medical students and resident physicians.

He is the author of the motivational book Let's Get It!: Hustle and Grind Your Way to Personal Empowerment, he hosts “The Dr. Mudgil Podcast,” and is very active on social media.

Dr. Mudgil earned his medical degree (Alpha Omega Alpha) from the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, New York, where he served as a prestigious Howard Hughes Medical Research Fellow and conducted skin cancer research. He completed a dermatology residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center — serving as chief resident — and a dermatopathology fellowship at New York City’s Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology.

Dr. Mudgil has published a number of academic journal articles and spoken at many national meetings. His professional honors include being named a New York Super Doctor every year since 2014.
