She pursued her dream of becoming a physician by earning a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Arkansas, where she also rowed crew. After college, Dr. Copenhaver spent a year in Belize establishing a partnership between her alma mater and a local nonprofit�an initiative that lasted over a decade�before moving to New York City for her medical training.

Dr. Copenhaver earned her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College and completed her residency in pediatrics at the Children�s Hospital of New York � Columbia University.
