He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where he served as administrative chief resident and won several awards for excellence. He completed his fellowship in adult reconstruction surgery at OrthoCarolina, one of the nation's leading independent orthopedic practices. Dr. Herndon is active in academic research and has published numerous articles in major academic journals including the Journal of Arthroplasty, where he serves as a member of the editorial board. His research interests include health policy and access to care, periprosthetic infection and fracture repair, and patient optimization. Dr. Herndon gives presentations at national meetings on a regular basis and has received multiple awards for research. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. Herndon is passionate about educating and mentoring residents and fellows at Columbia and nationally. He has also volunteered his time abroad to advance medical and surgical care in places like El Salvador, Ecuador, and Honduras. He lives in Westchester County with his wife and two young children.
