Fantastic result from a great specialist and his staff
I cannot express enough gratitude for the outstanding result of my surgery. It is the best I've felt in 16 years. Moreover, from the first appointment, surgery, and post visits, I have been in great hands with Doctor Behrend and his staff. Genuine people who care about their patient. I'd highly recommend anyone who has cervical pain issues, to seek out no other than this amazing team. Simply good people, and again, I am highly appreciative

I am an RN with 20 years of experience working in hospitals with doctors from a variety of specialties. I have met docs that were amazing and some that were not so amazing. Dr. Behrend is one of the amazing docs. I truly think he is one of the best docs I have encountered, For almost five years I had intractable shoulder/hand pain.from a traumatic injury. Or what I thought was shoulder/hand pain, Dr. Behrend identified my neck as being the source of the problem. He was right. After a cervical fusion most of my shoulder/hand issues were resolved.

Both Dr Behrend and Lori were in sync the entire time. The diagnosis and the surgery were exactly as he describe and the recovery was exemplary. The entire experience was like casting a broken bone - no complications and they made it look easy.

Truly life changing!

Very good. I was apprehensive at first and hopeful that surgery would not be required. But I do not regret the decision to have this surgery. It has worked out well so far.

extremely helpful from the first visit, and all the way to surgery.
had a foot drop of my right foot. Dr. Behrends right away felt that surgery would be the best approach, after reviewing the mri.my foot drop disappeared after 2 to 3 weeeks after surgery. no problems since then.

lower back pain
I came here with so much pain and little hope. After surgery, I sit here today with no pain and feeling good about life again. Lori (PA) has been so helpful, understanding and congenial each visit. She is truly an asset to Dr Behrend. Before surgery, when Lori was on vacation, it was up to Dr Behrend to go over pre-op procedures with me. He was very thorough, he listened and he explained everything so well. I would recommend this team to anyone with pain. Thank you both for your wonderful help and honorable bedside manners.

Back at the Gym!
I was referred to Dr Behrend from AZ Pain and had jumped through all the hoops of therapy and back shots. At 62 I was terrified of back surgery since when I was growing up it was a coin flip whether it worked or not. When I met Dr. Behrend I was immediately confident he knew what he was doing. He told me what they were going to do with L4/L5 and I asked "what about the microfractures?" He said "I am going to fix those too." He wasn't arrogant or pompous, he just believed in his abilities so I did too. Also three nurses at the hospita told me what a good choice I had made with him which made me feel warm and fuzzy as well. I am glad I had back surgery. The majority of the sciatica is gone and I am back at the gym lifting again "not stupid lifting, more reps." My wife and I liked Dr. Behrend so much that we are scheduling my wife for surgery because she has the same issues. Hope the office offers a two for one special.I give Dr. Behrend my highest recommendation.

Great experience
I had been experiencing neck and shoulder pain for about 7 years. I had shooting pains down my left arm with numbness in fingers on my left hand. I came to see Dr Behrend and he was happy to spend time with me to make sure he understood what I was experiencing and explaining my options. I decided to move forward with surgery to try and reduce the shooting pains down my arm that were unbearable.
I am so happy I did it. It has been 10 weeks now and the shooting pains are completely gone. There is still some neck pain and soreness. I will start physical therapy to try to eliminate some of that and increase my range of motion.
I am very happy with the outcome of the surgery and feel like I can start to do some of the things that I haven't been able to do for years.

wonderful experience!
Dr Behrend is a blessing! I came to him on a referral from another Dr in the OrthoArizona group and it was my best referral in 6 years! Dr Behrend listened to my complains of pain with compassion and thoughtfulness. When I returned to follow up with him he already had a plan in mind on how to deal with my problem and discussed it with me giving me the knowledge I needed to make a decision to leave pain behind me.
The follow up care with Dr Behrend was gentle but careful to the point of getting me back to feeling myself again. The pain I experienced after the surgery and physical therapy were no where near what a relief it was to be done with the pain and restraints put on my life before surgery! I would recommend seeing Dr Behrend to anyone with the painful life I had before meeting him.
Thank you Dr Behrend for giving me back a life!

Back on my feet
From my first visit to the post op appointment, Dr Behrend and Lori have been amazing! They answer every question and make sure I am taken care of. I would highly recommend everyone to see Dr Berhend for any back pain.

Successful back surgery
Everything was very well explained. My back surgery has been successful. After four weeks I have little or no pain.Everyone has been very professional, kind and attentive. I would definitely recommend Dr B

Over all the end results seem to be what i had hoped for
The surgery went well. The first two weeks were a little more pain full then I had expected. I ended back in emergency care and then in a rehab center. All the people that cared for me every where I was at were very nice.

Dr. Behrend and Team are Best in Spine Surgery
Dr. Behrend took the time to explain my diagnosis and surgery options. He took the time to listen to what I think is best for me while guiding me to the option that worked. He and his team are very efficient in procedure days and all pre/post visits. Lori helped me through my surgery day and post op needs. She takes the time to listen and advise expectations.
Overall, the entire office, Dr. Behrend, and Lori care about their patients. I feel like I am in good hands and will be taken care of by this team.

Outstanding recovery from pain.
Was reluctant to have spinal surgery but the orientation explained by Dr. Behrend helped me to be more comfortable with the intendedprocedure. The worst part of the surgery was the first two weeks of recovery. A lot of pain! Then the next four weeks were tolerable and got better every day. Now all the pain is gone and I am very pleased. My follow ups were all with NP Lorie and she was very knowledgable and helped me to understand all that I needed to know.

one of the best surgery experience i have ever had.
When it comes to back/ spinal surgery it is a very scaring thing to conccider. i was living with chronic pain for almost 10 years and have done everything i could to help relive my pain, surgery was my last option. I have seen many doctors, and it took me months to find Dr. Bahrend i shopped around and did my research. He is amazing he listens to ALL of your concerns, and does all the necessary test to help find out exactly what is going on and how to approach it. the surgery went perfectly and as expected. my pain has been reduced by over 80% and couldn't be happier.. thank you so so much!!

Herniated disc and siatica
I was in an extreme amount of pain for about 8 weeks and could not stand, walk or sit. After multiple MRI denials by my medical insurance, I paid for the MRI out of pocket. After an appointment with doctor Behrend and his assistant Lori Troxel, they took care of everything in such a professional, compassionate manner.
They promptly scheduled surgery and relieved my agonizing, crippling pain. I am so thankful for all they have done.

This is the best decision l have ever made for pain relief of my back!
Every visit from the initial visit to the diagnosis and the surgery all went as planed. All questions were explained in detail and the P.A. was extremely good & professional. The entire staff was always kind and courteous on every visit. My many thanks for a job well done!

I truly appreciate Lori being able to see me even though I was 30 minutes late due to my car not starting. The staff is always so courteous and Lori's disposition is so friendly and she explains everything for me to understand whats going on when I have pain.
