Overview
Dr. John Otero is an interventional pain management physician at Pain Relief Centers’ St. Petersburg location. He is board-certified in Pain Medicine by the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons and has worked in the field for a decade. His practice mainly focuses on minimally invasive procedures, physical therapeutic modalities and medication management in the treatment of chronic pain. He believes in taking a comprehensive therapeutic approach, utilizing interdisciplinary treatment and multi-modal therapies. “I enjoy the fact that I can help a patient get debilitating pain under control in a relatively short amount of time,” he says. “It’s an amazing, gratifying thing to be part of that process.” A native of California, Dr. Otero earned his undergraduate degree from the University of San Francisco and his doctorate from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He completed his internship and residency at the University of South Florida before undertaking a pain medicine fellowship through the Department of Neurology and an interventional pain medicine fellowship through the Department of Anesthesia, both at the University of South Florida, as well. Once a professional musician who still enjoys playing a variety of instruments when time allows, he also has a keen interest in architecture and travel. He and his wife and children enjoy spending time outdoors visiting Florida’s natural wonders and watching its amazing wildlife.
