Dr. Benjamin P Caplan, M.D.

I was diagnosed with a terminal cancer three years ago, and although I've been told I'm "about to die" many times, what has kept me going through the whole ordeal is cannabis. Not because I have any illusion that it is curing my cancer, but because it has made the quality of my daily life that much more enjoyable. Sometimes it helps me want to eat, other days it brings a smile to my face, and most days, it has helped me feel less worried and sleep better, if not through the whole night. We live in a culture war with marijuana that is totally illegitimate and unfair to those of us who have suffered. I feel so lucky to have found Dr Caplan and to have found medical cannabis.

I am a long-time patient of Dr Caplan, but took some down-time away from marijuana for a few months. My concerns are difficulty sleeping, anxiety, and I tend to de-stress by drinking too much alcohol. I took some time away to make sure I was not getting addicted. I did feel uncomfortable, but never felt like I lost control or "needed" to come back to cannabis. Truth is, I want to. It has made my suffering less, and my quality of life better. I'm glad I tested this out for myself, but I'm even more glad I'm back here.

Today was my first experience with medical marijuana. I have heard good things from friends, but I don't know what to believe with all the crazy news stories and reports. Dr Caplan was very helpful with informing me about my choices, the options at the dispensaries, and how to discuss what I'm doing with my other doctors. My issues are life-long, and although I have tried many other treatments and therapists, this is the first time that I have felt hope in a long time!

Lovely experience with Dr Caplan. He is kind, patient, and knowledgeable. I was nervous coming in, not knowing anything about marijuana, but I feel much better having come, and I'm actually a bit upset that I didn't come years ago. The world has changed!

What a simple, easy process! I am pleasantly surprised by this clinic. Everyone was nice, the office is neat and smells clean and fresh, and the process was incredibly straight-forward and customer-centered. I was walked through the entire process, simple and easy. The doc even sent an email with a summary and next steps! Love it.

I had no idea there was so much to know about marijuana!! Lots of different ways to consume it (eat, drink, vaporize, humidify, mist, smoke, topicals, patches, oh my!) I learned more than I thought there was to learn. The clinic is great, people are so nice, and it was a terrific experience, overall!

I had a great time today in clinic. I was seen promptly, well-prepared with paperwork and directions that were sent to me ahead of time. There were free snacks and water in the clean, spacious waiting room, and I was greeted by a lovely receptionist. I waited maybe 4 minutes before the doctor came out to meet me. We spoke for 30 minutes and I left feeling like I am well-supported, with a clear plan and ongoing guidance for this new cannabis adventure I'm embarking on

I'm grateful for Dr Caplan's central role in my transformation, but it was really the cannabis that changed my life for the better. Dr Caplan taught me what I needed to know, supportively in the most gentle way, and I slowly let my guard down about cannabis tinctures, topicals, and even vaporization. After my second year, I can honestly say I am a completely different person. I feel a sense of community and togetherness, I have a much better quality of life, and most importantly, I'm not in daily pain, or when I do have pain, it is not ruling my life anymore.

Office is luxurious, corner office in a well-lit, pristine modern building. Exquisitely professional appearance and feel with no weed smell, no weed pictures or anything unsavory. As any doctor office, magazines to read and educational material about marijuana and the Mass program. A few clean glass display cases with medical supplies and fake products as demonstrations of the kind of materials one can purchase. The visit was 25 minutes, covering medical history and risks/benefits for my conditions and expectations. I was given clear instructions and Dr Caplan make the process simple and easy for me. I highly recommend the clinic and Dr Caplan. Exceeded expectations.

Dr Caplan is the 4th cannabis doc I've seen in MA, and I"ve seen a bunch more in California. I've never seen anyone else as informed and passionate about educating patients. I did a bit of "mystery shopping" when I first came. I didn't let on that I knew about cannabis, and expected the experience to be as useless as my others. No way - Dr Caplan asked questions to figure out what my level of interest and experience was, and spoke to what interested me - not some prepared BS that I had experienced before. Highly recommend CED now

I'm a long-time patient of Dr Caplan, back to having him as a primary care doc in Needham. He is kind, caring, thoughtful, and always has a bright smile. I feel comfortable sharing my life with him, and he has been a great coach for me, through medical and personal difficulties. I would recommend him widely as a primary care doctor and as a cannabis expert. He's just the best!

CED clinic is not the least expensive choice, and I was hesitant at first, because I didn't understand what added value there was to this kind of doctor, except to get the card. I had heard there was a Dr Tischler and a Dr Uma who charge much more, and I know of options that charge less than CED, but reading about Dr Caplan and the clinic helped me feel like this was the right choice. This is my health, and I want to treat it seriously, but I don't want to get ripped off either. After coming, this was definitely the right choice

I grew up believing that marijuana was bad, or a stepping stone to crack/heroin etc. So naturally it was tough for me to take the step of getting into the medical program. I was worried my name would be on some database or that it would affect my job or insurance or whatever. I've learned now that none of this is a real worry. The MA program is private and secure. Even my own doctor didn't know before I told her. Also, I never knew there was marijuana you could consume that didn't make you feel high at all. Even more, smoking is no where near the only choice - the opposite is actually true. All in all, it has been a wonderful experience for my husband and I. I still feel weird/guilty a little, but I have considerably less pain, and my daily life is much better than I expected.

Obtaining an appointment was easy and fast. All paperwork is digital, did it all from home. Got into the office around lunchtime and was seen right away. Staff was very friendly, courteous, not intimidating. Dr Caplan explained everything I wanted to completely, clearly. I was able to visit a dispensary immediately after my visit, and the whole process could not have been more simple, easy, and approachable. 5 Stars all the way

I have been seeing Dr Caplan for years - following him across several locations where he's worked, including during his time as a Family Doctor in Needham. I think Dr Caplan is one of the most down-to-earth doctors. Keeps up on regular medicine and the latest in cannabis medicine, always tells it like it is, but is one of the most compassionate, kind people I know. I brought my ailing mother to see him, and my son sees him as well. I recommend him 100%, and without a second thought.

I was very nervous that going to a medical marijuana doctor would be uncomfortable, but Dr. Caplan immediately put me at ease. He took the time to listen to my concerns and answer the questions I brought with me. I didn't feel rushed at all and he even took the extra time to show me how different vaporizing devices worked and figure out wich would be best for me. It was also great that he made sure I left with the right paperwork and dispensary deals to get my medical cannabis right after our meeting! Thank you to Dr. Caplan and the CED Clinic!

I was referred to CED Clinic by friends who have had good experiences. I came to Dr Caplan with many questions and zero personal experience with cannabis. I booked online with a simple web-based booking tool, and completed a lengthy, though straight-forward survey about myself and my experience. I was sent directions automatically that were clear and helpful, and I received an automatic visit reminder the day before my appointment. I came in a little early, and I received a warm welcome from a kind young receptionist who offered me bottled water and a small snack. I was surprised to find that the doctor was running on time, and even saw me earlier than my appointment was scheduled. The visit was booked for 20 minutes, but lasted for 40. Dr Caplan was warm, easy to talk to, and incredibly knowledgable. He clearly and thoroughly outlined the process and expectations, personalized to my needs. All of my questions were answered. I feel well-prepared for this new treatment path.

Dr. Caplan is knowledgable, passionate, and compassionate. He was eager and able to educate me on the appropriate use of medical cannabis for my conditions. My appointment was unrushed and I left feeling empowered by new knowledge to make future decisions regarding my self-care.
