Overview
I am a board certified adult psychiatrist who sees patients in private practice in the San Francisco Peninsula Bay Area. I provide psychotherapy, medication management, assessments and consultations. Currently I see patients virtually. I am a Bay Area native and enjoy serving this vibrant community. My psychiatry residency training was at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), where I served as chief resident of ambulatory services. I went to medical school at Washington University in St. Louis. In both medical school and residency, I helped build curricula for cultural psychiatry. I also completed the master psychopharmacology program at the Neuroscience Education Institute (NEI). Prior to medical school, I completed a research fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) at Harvard Medical School in hand and upper extremity surgery, where I studied the complex interplay between psychological characteristics and upper extremity health. My undergraduate studies were at Dartmouth College, where I double majored in philosophy and psychology. At Dartmouth I graduated phi beta kappa, magna cum laude, and with high honors in psychology for my thesis on the impact of PTSD, trauma and depression on recovery from injuries. My style is collaborative, thorough, and multifaceted. In addition to my medical training, I draw on my background in psychology, philosophy, and cultural studies to think deeply about each patient from a holistic perspective. My treatment is informed by my training in psychopharmacology/pharmacotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure response prevention (ERP), psychodynamic psychotherapy, interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), and mindfulness. I also incorporate therapeutic lifestyle changes such as dietary modifications and exercise. For sleep-related concerns I have experience with interpersonal social rhythm therapy (IPSRT) for bipolar disorder and CBT-I for insomnia.Medical Specialties and Areas of Expertise
