    George Raptis, MD, MBA is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and a medical oncologist based at the R.J. Zuckerberg Cancer Center. Board certified in Medical Oncology, Dr. Raptis practice is solely dedicated to the treatment of patients with breast cancer. He focuses on providing compassionate, personalized, and evidence-based multi-disciplinary care. Dr. Raptis completed his medical school and residency training in internal medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and fellowship training in medical oncology at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He joined the MSKCC faculty where his research focused on novel treatment paradigms using sequential high dose chemotherapy with stem cell transplantation, in addition to other developmental therapeutics studies in the adjuvant and metastatic disease setting. He then moved back to the Mount Sinai Medical Center in 1998 and became the Director of the Ruttenberg Cancer Treatment Center. In 2004 he assumed the position of Acting Chief of Oncology and served as Co-Leader of the New York Presbyterian Cancer Service Line at Columbia University Medical Center. He was then recruited back to Mount Sinai in 2007 to develop, design, and build the Dubin Breast Center and to launch the breast cancer research program at Mount Sinai. His research focus included novel methods to overcome resistance to hormonal therapies in patients with breast cancer. Dr. Raptis came to Northwell Health in 2013 as the Associate Chief for Oncology and as Vice President for the Oncology Network for the Health System, and then became the Acting Executive Director of the Cancer Institute and Senior Vice President of the Cancer Service Line of Northwell Health. More recently he stepped down from his administrative roles and has returned to lead the breast cancer disease management team to integrate cancer care, clinical and translational research in support of the mission and vision of the Northwell Health Cancer Institute. He continues to be actively involved in numerous community-based breast cancer advocacy organizations
