Overview

I grew up in an academic family with two working parents and two brothers. We lived in many countries going to school in different languages. My parents instilled in me from an early age the importance of learning, compassion and giving back. To that end I consider myself fortunate to have been able to pursue a career in academic medicine. This has allowed me to take care of patients, teach future generations of physicians and further the field of plastic surgery here in the United States and all over the world through countless volunteer trips.

Q: What made you decide to pursue your specialty?

A: I decided to pursue plastic surgery as it was the only surgical specialty that emphasized treating the patient as a whole and restoring form and function. It appealed to me because as a specialty it is challenging and creative requiring a fundamental understanding of anatomy, embryology and physiology to reconstruct congenital, acquired, traumatic and perceived defect.

A: Our practice consists of a diverse group of compassionate, highly skilled assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and surgeons that work as a team providing the best evidence-based, up-to-date health care to our patients. We listen to our patients and provide them with the utmost care and follow.
