Overview
A board-certified dermatologist and New York native, Dr. Joanne Simpson received her medical degree (M.D.) from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine and completed her dermatology training at the University of Pittsburgh. She also holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from Duke University as well as a Master of Public Health (MPH) from The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where she pursued an interest in clinical research and epidemiology. Dr. Simpson is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgeons, Women's Dermatologic Society, and The American Medical Association, the Christian Medical and Dental Society, and the Washington DC Dermatological Society. Dr. Simpson enjoys practicing all aspects of dermatology, with particular interest in skin cancer screening, acne, and psoriasis. Educating her patients about how to become their own best skin health advocate is her passion. She is also a skilled cosmetic dermatologist with expertise and certification in performing non-invasive cosmetic procedures, such as lasers, fillers (including Restylane and Sculptra), cosmetic botulinum toxin use (such as Botox and Dysport), Coolsculpting, Sclerotherapy, and skin care. Additionally, Dr. Simpson performs virtual visits through the Dermatologist On Call platform for those patients who are unable to be seen in person for their dermatology needs. Outside of the office, Dr. Simpson enjoys trying new recipes, boating and sailing, traveling to warm and sunny places, and playing tennis.
