Dr. Barlow is a member of The American College of Phlebology and holds Board Certification from both The American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine and the American Board of Anesthesiology. Additionally, he holds Board Certification from the American Board of Echocardiography and has over 20 years of experience with cardiovascular surgery anesthesia. This extensive knowledge and experience using a very specialized form of cardiac ultrasound formed the perfect basis for his transition into the practice of Phlebology, the diagnosis, and management of the venous and lymphatic disease.After completing medical school and then a residency in Anesthesiology at The University of Mississippi, Dr. Barlow was in private practice at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS for 9 years. Since moving to Alabama in 2005, he has been in practice at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. His leadership and commitment to quality and patient safety has been consistent, having served as the compliance officer of his group in Jackson, and then as chairman of Brookwoods quality and performance improvement committee for many years.Dr. Barlow was trained in Phlebology by Dr. Michael Manning, a recognized expert in the field of phlebology at Mississippi Vein Institute in Jackson, MS. An absolute commitment to excellence and a tradition of patient-centered treatment of venous disease has now come full circle, as Dr. Manning received his training from the late Dr. John Kingsley, who was previously in practice right here in Alabama. Dr. Barlow is a member of the Medical Association of Alabama and the Alabama State Society of Anesthesiologists.
