Overview
John Hooper, MD was born and raised in Lawton, Oklahoma. During the summers he worked on his grandparents' farm, helping to raise cattle and wheat and assisting with the never-ending tasks that are always needed on a farm. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He then went on to graduate from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, DC where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree. Dr. Hooper then completed a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and obtained board certification in Anesthesiology. Dr. Hooper has practiced Anesthesiology in Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. From 2003 to 2017 Dr. Hooper was the chief cardiovascular anesthesiologist at a hospital in northwest Oklahoma. Dr. Hooper has also been involved in pain management, alternative natural medicine and especially medical cannabis therapy. One of his other major interests is animal rescue. Currently Dr. Hooper is caring for several dozen rescued dogs and cats, providing some of them with forever homes and helping to find homes for others.
