    Q: What made you decide to pursue your specialty?

    A: Nobody in my family was in medicine. The only physician role model I had when I was younger was our family's wonderful pediatrician. When I went to medical school, I thought I wanted to go into pediatrics. However, when I was exposed to surgery I knew that was what I wanted to do. I have been fortunate to be able to combine surgery with the care of children.
