Wouldn't change one thing.
He is THE only Dr. who truly has helped me and has always listened. He goes far out of his way to provide a surgical intervention, rather than a pharmaceutical intervention. That has made ALL the difference. I would not recommend any other "Pain Mngmt" Dr. and never have. I have been in chronic pain since my early twenties due to a congenital spinal defect. Had I not found Dr. Chen, I can truly say, I wouldn't be here today. I was told back in 2002 I would be on Oxycontin AND Methadone for THE rest of my life! I, very thankfully refused, though I found myself in such excruciating pain, honestly, I felt life was no longer worth living. Dr. Chen was literally my last attempt at finding relief so I had SOME quality of life. I thank God daily that He brought me to Dr. Chen who has been an answer to prayers for real relief from chronic pain and for an approach that is not SOLELY based on a pharmaceutical approach! He & his staff have made all the difference for me and my family. God Bless!

Dr. Chen is very good at what he does. Injections give me relief from pain. Dr. Chen explains things to me so I completely understand my options.

Dr. Chen makes me feel as if I’m a person and not just a patient!
I’ve been a patient of Dr. Chen going on 8 years now. I see him for chronic pain and in the past when working with other Dr’s they more or less make me feel as if it was all in my head or I was less than because I required pain medication to function. Dr. Chen has never made me feel this way, and has always been open to hearing my idea on things and takes the time to explain them to me and together we come up with a plan. Before Dr Chen I would say that I had been to 10 Drs in 6 years, and now that I’m going on 8 years at Alta Pain Physicians I feel as if I’m part of the family!!

Dr Chen is a caring doctor. He listens to what you have to say. He does his very best to take care of all your needs within reason. Which is awesome. If he can't help you, you can be rest assured he will find a solution to best fit your needs. Wont go to ANYONE else!!!

You could tell that he cared.
He always asked how I was doing and was good at explaining what things I could expectto change like how the cold weather could cause more discomfort. Great bed side manner.

Understanding and empathy
Dr. Chen is so kind and does not seem hurried to get out of the room - takes the time to show and talk about you your area of pain and discomfort. Does not take long to get an appointment. I am not afraid of the needles because they prepare you before hand and understand your anxiety level. I would suggest him to anyone and I am 71 years old!!

I have been a chronic pain patient for thirty years. Dr. Chen and his colleagues provide the best care I have ever had in a compassionate and holistic manner. They truly listen and present multiple modalities for dealing with pain. The treatments they have given me have enhanced my quality of life. Pain doesn't have to be debilitating...it is great to have answers and solutions.

Mike is very educated and knows alot about what im going through i trust him
This office has been by far the most friendly and knowledgeable group of people I've come across in dealing with 2 different nerve damage diseases. Doctor chen is a great doctor and knows his stuff and on top of that he is easy to talk to and I feel comfortable talking about my pain and issues I have .by far the best I've seen

Just like family, very understanding.
Been going here since 2011 and I see Michael and Shane every visit they always take the time to listen and answer all my questions. My case is difficult, but they always are finding ways to help. I consider them more like family now.

I have been coming to see him since his 2nd year that he opened, I believe. He is a great listener and makes me feel like he really cares. He remembers almost everything we tell him including the names of our grandchildren, he always asks how everybody is doing.

Understanding
