Excellent Experience in all respects
Dr. Haines is a great communicator and took the time to explain our issue and what he would do. He showed us on the Xrays what spinal problems existed and used models to show us what he would do. He took extra time to answer all our questions and never once gave the impression that he was rushed. We are already seeing the positive results of the spinal surgery after only 3 months. This is one of the best experiences we have had with any doctor and highly recommend him.

Best decision I've ever made!
No better care anywhere. Very professional and caring. Dr. Haines is the best. After 12 years of suffering and other doctors messing me up, Dr. Haines has worked a miracle. I feel better than i have in more than 12 years.

outstanding, very caring physician
At every step of my journey, Dr. Haines was an exceptional encourager. He explained what was going on in my body, how he planned to address the issues and gave me hope at a time I desperately needed it.
As we walked through the process and the surgeries, there were some curve balls. Dr Haines handled all of those, continued to encourage me and his professional skills exceeded all of his predictions.
I am a new man because of Dr. Haines and the team at Virginia Spine Institute.
I am so very grateful that Dr. Haines was brought into my life and for his personal touch and professional skills.

today 2/13/19 was my three month follow up with Dr. Haines and received the best news, that my spine is healing ahead of schedule and released to exercise rebuild muscles and go hiking/running and live a very active life :) I could not have accomplished wellness without Dr. Haines and his medical staff and an amazing PT with Dan. - feeling amazing

Complete confidence and exceptional results
Prior to visiting Virginia Spine Institute and Dr. Haines, I spent a year bouncing between physical therapists, chiropractors, and physicians in an attempt to alleviate my neck pain. Dr. Haines accurately diagnosed my issues and offered a no-nonsense approach that I found comforting. He is a superior and exceptional physician with a refreshing bedside manner. He uses a common-sense approach to explain any issues and available options for correcting them. I am beyond happy with my results.

End to End Excellence
From the first visit, through surgery and into follow up appointments, Dr. Haines and his staff were the most professional and knowledgeable team I have encountered. After suffering with pain for more than 3 years, Dr. Haines and the staff at VSI correctly assessed, diagnosed, and corrected my issues with surgery, pain management, and physical therapy. My pain is gone and I wonder why I waited as long as I did.

Superb. without a question absolutely superb.
I was once very miserable , after having a first back surgery done elsewhere my conditions worsened . After discovering VSI and meeting Dr. Haines I felt I was in good hands right away. He listened , laughed with me and understood . 3 surgeries later at 33 years old I feel like I never had any back problems whatsoever. He has drastically improved my life and for that I am beyond grateful for meeting him and VSI in general . He did a masterclass on my back and I feel brand new without a doubt .

Amazing doctor!
Best experience with a physician at this practice! Fantastic bedside manner and great at recognizing, quickly forming a plan of care, and explaining the plan in a way that both myself with a medical background and my family without a medical background could understand! He went out of his way to get me into surgery ASAP. One year later I'm pain free and never thought I ever would be!

Had Single Neck Fusion at C6/C7-ACDF
Dr. Haines was thorough, informative and turned a terrible quality of life in to a fantastic one. His attention to detail is tops and always made sure we (myself and family) were comfortable with course of treatment. Excellent Surgeon and highly recommend!

Amazing!
Dr. Haines was able to help me with my back issues that I had been having for 6 years. I am one year out after having a fusion and feel amazing! He and his staff are wonderful and great to work with. They treat you as if you were family!

I feel a million times better!
I had an acute disc rupture that had me in pain and worse yet progressive numbness and lower leg weakness. I was brought right in had an MRI scheduled with in a few days reevaluated and in the OR with in a week. I feel a million times better and am on the road to recovery!

Couldn't ask for a better outcome.
From the first visit, through the surgery, therapy and follow up, I've felt very comfortable. I've obviously been in very good hands. VSI was my second opinion. I was so impressed with Dr. Haines I decided he would do my surgery no matter what procedure was deemed appropriate. I know we picked the right procedure because I feel better than I did before I hurt my neck. I have no limited motion and no lasting effects, like neuropathy.

I could not be happier with my outcome
Given the nature and the statistics for the surgical risks and recovery for my particular spinal injury and surgery, at almost two years from the original surgery I am doing better than I or anyone expected. My pain is almost completely gone. I am able to resume activities that was unable to do for the past 5 years. Dr Haines and his staff and been execeptional before, during and after my surgery.

Exceptional care
Having Dr. Haines as a provider has literally changed my life. Besides listening to me and establishing a plan of care perfect for my life style, Dr. Haines and his team showed me an exceptional level of compassion. He was seriously concerned with my well being and with how my back issues had affected my life. I had been treated for the same issues by other providers for over 7 years, with no success. I am now back to my normal life and haven't felt this great in years. Highly recommend him.

Disabled female combat veteran given life again
I will be a disabled veteran for the rest of my life, but Dr. Haines' expertise, patience, and listening skills helped to accurately diagnose a problem the veteran's administration, department of defense, and several other private physicians were unable to diagnose. Dr. Haines' ability to spend time with me to find the best treatment was critical because of my other health conditions. It is important to consider the whole person when working with disabled veterans.

Absolutely amazing
Having received a spinal fusion L1-S1 and having had to fix a previous spinal surgery, Dr. Haines has been nothing short of amazing. When I first saw him I could barely walk 10 feet without extreme pain, 6 months after surgery I am in the gym every day, walking everywhere without pain, and even running some. As a Retired Marine my life has returned to normal thanks to Dr. Haines and his team. I have recommended him to some of my coworkers and their experiences have been similar to mine.

Pain Free!
I've lived with back pain for many years and have visited different doctors, orthopedics, and chiropractors but continued to live with the pain. After ending up in the emergency room barely able to move I decided to take the trip to VSI and couldn't be more thankful for Dr. Haines and his team. After many years of back pain and discomfort I am finally able to live my life Pain Free!

Outstanding
Dr. Haines was willing to listen to me, review my medical records, and spend time evaluating me when other doctor would not.
His surgical skills are top notch. My disc replacement has resolved over ten years of chronic pain in my neck and shoulders.
I really feel that Dr. Haines cares for his patients. Very happy to have met him.
