Great Pre and Post OPN evaluations, explanations and service.
I feel that the surgery gave me the quality of life needed by taking the pain away. Looking forward to continue having Dr. Haines and VSI as my Spine doctor to work on the military-service connected Scoliosis issues that I am having.

No more pain!
over seven years of back pain was initially resolved with first two surgeries in 2012 and 2016. Disc issues continued though moving downward requiring a third surgery. Pain is gone, posture is great just working on strength and balance now. I really appreciate the doctors and staff at VSI, especially Doctor Haines my recent surgeon.

Amazing spinal fusion with Dr. Haines!
I was diagnosed with scoliosis at a very young age and have been to multiple doctors. Dr. Haines is by far the best doctor I have ever had. He tried all approaches before we discussed surgery, no other doctor had taken the time to talk specifically about my case and prescribe treatment methods for my individual wants/ needs. I decided to go through with the spinal fusion only because of the time Dr. Haines took to research methods and options for me. I have a 50 degree curve and was in so much pain. I was always so afraid of spinal fusion surgery but Dr. Haines made me feel like I was in good hands and got me through the toughest decision I have ever made. On top of that I am now only two weeks post operation and I feel amazing. So much of my pain is gone and I know it will only continue to get better as I heal. I can't thank Dr. Haines and his team at the Spine Institute enough. They have truly changed my life. I look forward to doing more of the things I love! Thank you VSI!

Couldn't have had a better experience then what I got coming here.
Dr. Haines is one of the best doctors that I've meet that actually showed companison and was willing to actually sit and listen to all complaints. He takes the time to get to know his patients and explains all the dos and don'ts. I was in pain for over ten years. First time meeting Dr. Haines he told me that he could help me get my life back and boy did he. I couldn't be more happier.

Beyond My Expectations!
Dr. Haines is truly an expert in his field! I no longer have the severe back and leg pain that I was experiencing. He diagnosed the issue and worked with me on non-surgical options until I had no other option but surgery. He fully explained all of the procedures on multiple occasions and was patient with my questions. He has shown great compassion and I appreciate all that he has done for me.

Amazing!
This was my fourth spinal surgery at the VSI, but my first experience with Dr. Haines. I came in with extreme pain and three months later I'm going home without pain or disability. He was absolutely amazing. He has a fantastic bedside manner. He truly listens to what you have to say and will give you his honest opinion. You will not go wrong with Dr. Haines as your neurosurgeon!

Wonderful Doctor
I am so thankful to have found Dr Haines. He has been a wonderful doctor and for the first time in 3 years, I am on the road to recovery. He diagnosed me quickly, surgery was done and I already feel like a new person. His entire staff is as dedicated as he is to making sure you are taken care of. I would highly recommend him as you won't find another doctor who truly cares and explains everything in detail to you. Thank you Dr Haines for giving me my life back. 5 star Dr. Colin Haines
Dr. Haines listened to my fears and gave me tissue for my tears. Dr. Haines explained everything to me and answered all my questions! Colin made me feel more relaxed because he showed me how much he truly cared about me; I did not feel like a number. Dr. Haines made me feel special, which made me able to totally trust him as he explained to me how big of a surgery I was having and how he would deal with any issues that may arise during the surgery. He checked on me each day and let me know how everything was going. I could not have asked for a better doctor to do this surgery. In my eyes Colin Haines is a ROCK STAR! He has enabled me to be able to live again!! Thank you so very much Dr. Haines. His team is also fantastic. I am so very grateful and excited to start living agian!! God Bless doctors like Dr. Colin Haines.

Excellent Doctor with a Good bedside manner
My experience has been excellent with Dr Haines. He is extremely knowledgeable with excellent personal skills. He explained everything that would happen and has followed up at all stages, pre-op and post-op.
Because of his use of advanced surgical techniques, there has been no pain post-op.
I will recommend him to anybody needing help with their back.
The staff at VSI are all professional and very friendly. This is a first for any Doctors office I have visited. Keep it up.

Absolutely the best doctor EVER!
I came to the Virginia Spine Institute looking for a second opinion. After 10+ years of chronic pain I decided enough was enough. I completed an online contact form over the weekend and they called me by Monday am first thing. From there I made an initial appointment and Dr. Haines was the answer to our prayers. After years of chronic pain, failed treatments and physical therapy and ablations, surgery was our next route. I felt like Dr. Haines was able to pin point my exact issue in a matter of just minutes, where as it took me 10+ years with my doctors. Long story, short, he scheduled me for a 3 level cervical fusion. After the surgery my pain immediately was relieved and I can finally function and do normal everyday functions. I have Dr. Haines and the entire staff at the Virginia Spine Institute to thank. They're service is top-notch and amazing! I cannot thank them enough for giving me my life back.

Haven't felt this good in years
Dr, Haines has been wonderful in listening to my explanation of back problems, and determining just exactly where my pain is originating from. He spent time with me reviewing xrays & mri's and providing options to relieve the pain. He is not quick to offer surgery but is more conservative in his approach. At this point he has tried injections in several different locations and I'm feeling much better. Dr. Haines has also discussed future options but at this point has decided to continue with a conservative approach. I would definitely recommend Dr. Haines for anyone experiencing back problems. Thank you Dr. Haines and staff for your wonderful service!!

Caring doctor with superior service
Dr. Haines has a wonderful bedside manner and makes you feel very comfortable. He does a good job of explaining your condition and the repair process in layman terms so that you understand what is going on. He truly cares about his patients. He and the staff at VSI are all top-notch. No one can believe that only two weeks ago I could hardly walk and was in extreme pain and now I'm walking straighter and with ease and no pain.

Finally I have back pain relief
I have had numbness in my legs and pain in back for several years. In the military I was told there was nothing that could be done, I just had to take pills to control the nerve pain. After separating, I made an appointment with Spine Institute for an expert opinion. I knew within minutes that Dr. Haines was going to ensure we fixed my back and neck problems. It was a nice relief to have a doctor listen to my concerns and create an action plan for pain recovery. After a few treatments for my back , we decided to do surgery. So far that has been great decision. I no longer have the constant nerve pain and tension in my back. My nerves have room to breath now! Thanks again to the whole team for my lumbar recovery.

Excellent experience.
Dr. Haines has been wonderful. He has helped me understand the underlying causes of some new issues that surfaced after recent successful spinal fusion. I really appreciate his professional, kind, patient and thorough manner during my office visits. Words Can't express my gratitude
When I came to Dr. Haines I wasn't able to work efficiently, actively play with my son, or participate in the majority of favorite hobbies. I always uncomfortable and in a great deal of pain more times than not. My L4-L5 and L5-S1 discs were herniated and deteriorating, causing severe chronic nerve damage and pain. Dr. Haines and his team tried pain management injections, which weren"t as effective as we had hoped. They told me I needed double level fusion and disc implants. I was nervous and scared. They explained everything to me extremely well, answered all my questions, they treated me like person, which made it felt more like a friendship that i could trust. My surgery was 3 months ago. I'm PAIN FREE, getting my strength back slowly but surely. followed Dr. Haines directions, regularly attend physical therapy, and obeyed my restrictions. I really am having trouble finding words to articulate my gratitude for Dr. Haines and his team. THEY FIXED ME! My son has his Dad back!

Great listener and excellent communication skills

Dr Haines is the best surgeon I ever had.
Dr Haines always took the time to explain every detail to ease my mind at every stage I was going through. I wasn't able to walk for 8 years without a cane or walker and now because of Dr Haines I am walking a mile in 6 months time without using a cane or walker. I have a big part of my life back thanks to Dr Haines.

Thanks for giving me my life back
I had a horse accident one year ago, I never thought I'd ever be normal again. I was in pain constantly. Dr. Haines did my surgery two weeks ago and now I feel amazing!

Multi Level ACDF - Success!
Dr. Haines is amazing. He is calm and confident. My diagnosis was accurate and surgery resolved excruciating pain that I was dealing with for over a year. I can not thank Dr. Haines enough for giving me the confidence to move forward with this complex surgery. I never felt rushed or pressured. I am now on the road to full recovery!
