It all worked out. After a decade + of dealing with low back pain and multiple attempts to resolve it, decided it was time to find a surgeon. The whole experience with VSI and Dr Good and his staff has been exceptional. Dr Good presented all the options, took his time reviewing my history and covering all aspects of my surgery. He and his team walked me through the entire process from the decision to operate, to post-surgery and rehab. I immediately felt relief from my symptoms and less than 6 months later I felt better than I had in over 10 years. 100% back (no pun) in the game.

Attention and time spent with patients is incredible. I couldn't be more happy that I choose VSI and Dr. Good for my scoliosis spinal fusion. He is a very passionate surgeon.

Dr. Good is exceptionally skilled and compassionate. He accurately diagnosed the problem and clearly outlined the procedures and timeline. Dr. Good has performed two difficult spine surgeries to correct an ongoing condition. These surgeries included installing posts for support, fusion, new discs and more. Dr. Good was extremely thorough, took the the time to explain everything to my satisfaction and in my opinion was nothing short of amazing especially since I have severe osteoporosis in my spine. Both of my recoveries went very well and unexpectedly almost painless. Unfortunately, I had nerve damage when I first went to see Dr. Good. However, after surgery some of that damage has been reversed as I am walking so much better now than pre-surgery and I can continue on with my active life, living on a sailboat in the Caribbean. I highly recommend Dr. Good. The office staff is top notch, friendly and very responsive.

Dr. Good and the entire Virginia Spine Institute staff has helped transform my life from one of pain to one that is nearly pain free. I like their approach of progressive treatment from the least invasive (e.g., physical therapy, steroid shot) to more cutting edge, which for me was stem cell replacement therapy. Dr. Good is extremely knowledgeable and truly cares about his patients.

I was determined to have the best surgeon I could find to do my fusion surgery. After meeting Dr. Good and doing some investigating on the use of robotics, I was convinced that I was making a good decision and it was. My hospitalization and recuperation proceeded exactly as expected and with minimal pain. I am now one year post op and as active as I want to be, even riding horses again. Best decision I could have ever made.

Dr. Good and his team have provided me with exceptional care for my cervical spine issues leading to surgery and post-op. They truly went above and beyond to comfort me and make me feel confident about the decision to have surgery. Dr. Good is about as thorough of a doctor as you are going to find. He listens to all of the information you share with him, processes it, and then provides valuable feedback. He gives you straight forward explanations and tells you straight up when needed. The fusion surgery he did went very well and I was back to a fairly normal life quickly. Take it from the nurses that work with him at Reston Hospital (not affiliated with the spine institute), he is one of the great ones!

I had three laminectomies through out the years and it finally came time again where I could not move or walk. I saw Dr. Good and also another surgeon that was in network. I chose Dr. Good as he spent a lot of time explaining the surgery and showing me the hardware for my 2 level fusion. He also had me do a procedure to make sure I didn't have to do a 3 level fusion. I feel that he is genuinely warm and caring and not just banging out surgeries for money. His office staff is more than helpful and called to follow up with the neurologist for test results. His PA's were also the same. Dr. Nuygen from the pain management side made sure this was the least painful surgery I ever had. I just finished my annual check up and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. It was worth the money spent to be pain free and walk again,

Dr. Good did fusions in my neck and lower back caused by a car accident hit from behind. He took the appropriate amount of time to go over all of the possible solutions, and we ended up having to do surgery to alleviate the pain. The surgeries went fine and I have never been more happy! I had back problems over a decade, told at some point I would need surgery. But I remained relatively pain free for 9 years until an episode in March of 2018. New MRIs led Dr. Good to recommend a 2 stage surgery, over 2 days entering from the front for a fusion and the back for hardware and a laminectomy. I was shocked and terrified when he described the procedure but was in such pain I knew I had to consider it. I had had 2 spinal injections which did not solve the pain issue, consulted other surgeons about treatment. I felt most comfortable with Dr. Good, in spite of my initial shock. He was very thorough with his explanations and I had confidence in him. All the same I was terrified going into the surgeries. But after much prayer, I knew I had to take a chance. I was operated on July 3 and 5, 2018. The post-op pain was manageable with meds and in fact less painful than before surgery. After 3 months I was cleared for normal activity and one year later completely pain free.

I have been a patient of Dr Good's since 2013. At that time I came into the office in acute pain from a ruptured disc. We tried to take care of it non surgically to no avail. About a month after the incident - I had a successful disc replacement surgery. Fast forward 5 years - again in acute pain - I came back to the office. This time I had 2 herniations. I'm super happy to report that these were taken care of without the need for surgery. Some medication was required at the start combined with physical therapy and the pain/symptoms subsided. I am over the moon happy with Dr Good and the entire staff. They listened intently, asked and answered questions, explored options, and I felt as if we were a solid team looking out for my best interests - physically and emotionally. I strongly urge anyone with spinal issues to consult with Dr Good - it is refreshing to have a top notch physician that collaborates with you and listens.

Dr. Good was kind, patient, clear, and most importantly accurate and helpful when it came to my spinal problems. He took the time to understand my pain, what the cause of it was, and present all of my different options for treatment. He seems to genuinely care for my well-being as well as the well-being of all of his patients.

I had back pain for about 10 years that got exponentially worse each year. We held off on surgery for as long as possible but eventually moved forward with an L5-S1 fusion. My pain level improved by about 30-40% within the first 3 months after surgery, and now I'm pain free after 1 year! Dr. Good is an amazing surgeon and wonderful doctor. I felt very comfortable leading up to my surgery because of how thorough he was in explaining everything beforehand. He answered every question I had and was genuinely happy with my post-op progress. I've been seeing Dr. Good for many years to address my spinal injury. About a year ago, we opted for a stem cell procedure. Dr. Good was very upfront about how the procedure would work (since he had it before), what the results would look like for me specifically, and listened to every concern that I or my family had. I am happy to report that I am basically pain free, and was able to participate in the "We've Got Your Back" 5k without triggering any pain!! I can't thank him or his team enough!
